St. Paul’s School, a co-educational boarding school for grades 9 through 12, was founded in 1856 as a place for humane but rigorous education within a setting of great natural beauty. Located 68 miles north of Boston on 2,000 acres of woodlands, fields, and ponds, St. Paul’s is home to more than 500 students and 100 faculty members, all of whom live on the grounds. Affiliated with the Episcopal Church, St. Paul’s School relies on those traditions to promote friendship, understanding, trust, and respect for those of all faiths and beliefs among its students from 35 states and 16 countries.

St. Paul’s School is a fully residential academic community that pursues the highest ideals of scholarship. It strives to challenge students intellectually and morally—to nurture a love for learning and a commitment to engage as servant leaders in a complex world.  Academics

The SPS academic program offers exceptional depth and breadth, giving students both a solid grounding in the fundamentals and the flexibility to pursue electives ranging from Biomedical Ethics and European Art to Subatomic Physics and the History of Mathematics. The core curriculum includes challenging courses in the cornerstone subject areas: humanities, mathematics, science, languages, religion, and the arts.

 Special Highlights

Health and Wellness. The School’s mission also includes helping our students to balance their lives. We recognize that adolescence can be a period of emotional stress and adjustment. Our center’s two full-time therapists are available to talk with students about any concern or they may refer a student to an outside therapist for ongoing counseling.

Community Service. As an expression of the school’s commitment to developing virtuous and responsible students within a diverse environment, the school requires a period of service to the community for all students. St. Paul’s has also woven community service into many aspects of students’ daily lives; interscholastic sports teams do community service as a team; at least one course in each academic department has a service-learning component; and school-sponsored service trips go out during break times.
