South Kent School, established in 1923, is a college preparatory school for boys in grades 9 through 12 nestled in the hills of picturesque northwestern Connecticut. Three principles define the School: simplicity of life, self-reliance, and directness of purpose. We develop young men who can evolve and adapt, be globally competitive and prepared to meet the challenges posed by a changing natural environment. Their time at South Kent prepares our students for success at each point in their life. One such point, a mere four years after graduation, is the start of their career.
We offer, by living simply, an uncluttered environment for lively and rigorous learning. We encourage our students to become self-reliant in order to develop competence and self-esteem.
Academics
South Kent School offers an innovative, project-based program with an emphasis on applied technology, sustainability, environmental studies & experiential learning. South Kent’s flagship program; The Center for Innovation will combine ecological and environmental studies focusing on sustainability and applied technology. A recently acquired property adjacent to the current SKS campus will serve as a real-time laboratory and provide the site for a project-based curriculum.

These programs focus on ambitious community service, cultural immersion, and adventurous exploration.

What the school looks for in students…
“We seek students that can handle the demands of a college prep curriculum. As well, we are looking for students who are individuals; who are passionate about learning and willing to give something back to the community.”
