Our high school program has recently undergone a renewal visit by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and been granted the maximum term of six years. High Bluff Academy was voted #1 in the Best Private School Category and The Best Tutoring Center in the Best of North County Reader’s Poll for several years in a row. The school has also been granted permission from the U.S. Customs and Immigration Service to grant student visas to foreign students. So far, the school has had students from Russia, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, India, Mexico and Japan. High Bluff Academy has added elective courses, clubs, a community service program and sports to its stellar academic program.

Academics

High Bluff Academy offers a high quality college preparatory program for students who desire a more personalized approach to education. Our curriculum and schedule closely follow those of Torrey Pines High School and 150 to 200 students from the public schools attend our group classes each semester.

Special Highlights

Academic Tutoring. Unlike the national chains, we don’t try to fit the students to a preset curriculum or a formulaic method of teaching. Our secret is finding the best teachers in every discipline who not only know their subject area, but know a lot about kids and how they learn. Our teachers use a wide variety of materials and teaching methods to customize each lesson to fit the individual.

Bay Club Sports Resort. Physical education classes are taught at the nearby Bay Club Sports Resort with a certified personal trainer. Flexible scheduling option: Students can opt to create their own school schedule with a combination of our group classes and one-on-one courses. High level athletes, models, and actors usually choose this option in order to accommodate their training, competition and work schedules.
