The Cambridge School of Weston is a progressive, coeducational, day and boarding school for grades 9 through 12, and post graduate. Established in 1886, it is dedicated to fostering individual strengths and multiple intelligences through a wide range of challenging courses and a variety of teaching styles.

Students are encouraged to explore new educational experiences and areas of study, and to be proactive in planning their academic schedules. It offers more than 250 courses. No two student schedules are alike. Each student works with an advisor and the Academic Office to create a unique academic schedule that balances personal interests with college expectations and the school’s requirements for graduation. Ultimately, each student schedule aims to provide balance, rigor, and stimulation throughout the year.

 Academics

Our unique Module System fosters deep learning and innovative teaching in all disciplines. Classes are an hour-and-a-half long, and students concentrate intensely on three subjects at a time. Our curriculum is diverse and interdisciplinary, combining demanding academics with extensive offerings in the visual and performing arts.

 Special Highlights

Thompson Gallery. The Thompson Gallery is a teaching gallery dedicated to exploring a single theme through three separate exhibitions, offering differing vantages of the selected topic, throughout the school year. Named in honor of CSW trustee John Thompson and family, the Thompson Gallery promotes opportunities to experience contemporary art by local, national and international artists and periodically showcases the art of faculty, staff and alumni.

Integrated Studies. CSW believes young people learn best when they are actively engaged, solving problems and applying new concepts to their own experiences. Some of the most dynamic and potent opportunities for this type of learning come from CSW’s integrated studies courses. These are hands-on interdisciplinary courses organized around a particular theme and, in most cases, team taught by faculty from different departments. The courses can combine history, science, mathematics, English and the arts. By bridging disciplines, these courses inspire students to seek new connections and generate original ideas.
