Bentley University is a private institution that was founded in 1917. It’s set on a 163-acre classic New England campus in Waltham, Massachusetts nearby to Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. Bentley offers a wide variety of majors and minors, as well as optional Liberal Studies and Business Studies majors designed to create a modern intersection of the arts and sciences and business that’s unique in higher education. Bentley is home to a number of academic organizations including the Bentley Investment Group, a student-run organization charged with managing a portion of the university’s endowment fund; Bentley Open Market Committee, Bentley Marketing Association, TAMID, and the Bentley Real Estate Group. Campus media includes a student-produced weekly newspaper, TV station, radio station, a record label, and Fusio, an academic research journal published by the university’s honors program.

Academics

Bentley has one undergraduate school which offers 17 business majors and 14 arts and sciences majors, as well as 39 minors. Its graduate school offers five master’s degrees, an MBA with eight disciplines, and three PhD programs. Bentley’s curriculum, focusing on business, technology and the arts and sciences, provides students with options for shaping an academic program that fits their skills, interests, and career goals. BS degree programs include accountancy, corporate finance and accounting, data analytics, finance, managerial economics, and more. BA degree programs include English, global studies, health studies, history, liberal arts, media and culture, philosophy, public policy, and sustainability science. The student-faculty ratio at Bentley is 12:1, and the school has 23% of its classes with fewer than 20 students. Popular majors include Finance, Business, Management, and Marketing.

Special Highlights

Bentley Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Center. BSLCE oversees an innovative student leadership model to drive our programs forward. Approximately 120 Program Managers oversee more than 1,000 students that BSLCE sends into the Greater Waltham community each year. These students develop, implement and evaluate projects and programs for weekly service. Working closely with Bentley staff and our community partners, Program Managers develop sustainable partnerships that enhance student learning and contribute to positive change in the community.

Bentley Fashion Consultants. Bentley Fashion Consultants (BFC) is a new type of organization on campus, bringing together the worlds of fashion and business through varied events and publications. For some, it’s a hobby, but for others, it’s a passion. Either way you go, we encourage anyone interested in the fashion industry to use the resources we bring to students, including networking and informational events and publications, fashion-related activities and shows, and multiple charitable endeavors.

School Mission & Unique Qualities

Bentley is recognized among the top schools in the nation for internships and career service. The Miller Center for Career Services offers an on-campus recruiting program involving 1,000 national and international companies, an online database, career fairs, and workshops to assist students to secure internships and full-time positions. Based on student surveys, Bentley students feel exceptionally supported by a career services team they say “does a great job in placing [students] in internships as well as full-time jobs.” Students also describe Bentley as an institution that, “is all about knowing what the business world wants” and “sets out to create the best for its students” as they step into the professional world. In addition to the intercollegiate and intramural programs, the University offers a number of club sports for students to take part in, with one of the most notable being the Bentley Equestrian Team.
