Babson College is a private institution that was founded in 1919. Located in suburban Wellesley, Massachusetts, just fifteen miles west of Boston, this close-knit New England school is known as one of the nation’s top small business colleges. Babson’s 370-acre campus is alive with intellectual, cultural, athletic, and social activities. Roughly a quarter of undergraduates are international students. Every day, Babson students are learning to address real-world business and societal problems to create sustainable economic and social value in today’s fast-paced global economy. Our Greater Boston location means students have the best of both worlds: a beautiful, residential campus with access to all of the cultural and recreational opportunities a large city offers. The college is adjacent to the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, and has additional campus locations both in the financial district in Boston and downtown Miami for graduate programs. All undergraduate students study on the main campus in Wellesley.

Academics

Babson College has one undergraduate school through which all students earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration that can be concentrated in up to two of 24 different academic areas, business or otherwise. Its graduate school offers master’s degrees. Babson offers a strong business curriculum with a liberal arts foundation. Students benefit from taking at least half their courses in the liberal arts to ensure a balanced education that integrates liberal arts and management. The transformative experience of the first year is the award-winning Foundations of Management and Entrepreneurship, a year-long course in which students create, start, and operate their own business or organization. The student-faculty ratio at Babson is 11:1, and the school has 13% of its classes with fewer than 20 students. Popular majors include Economics, Entrepreneurship Studies, Finance, and Marketing Management.

School Mission & Unique Qualities

Babson is involved in a three-college collaboration with Olin College and Wellesley College. Nearly half of all students choose to take a semester abroad, elective abroad, or school break service trip. Babson offers 104 education abroad opportunities in 38 countries, including the BRIC program which takes students to Brazil, Russia, India, and China as a cohort. In addition, students can spend a semester experiencing startups in Silicon Valley while they study at Babson’s San Francisco campus. Elective abroad programs are short-term courses led by Babson faculty that combine on-campus classroom instruction with company site visits, cultural excursions, and hands-on experiences around the world. Symbolic of Babson and its international focus is the Babson Globe. Located on the main campus, it’s noteworthy for being one of the world’s largest rotating globes, weighing 25 tons and with a diameter of 28 feet.
