Northeastern University is a private institution that was founded in 1898. Northeastern’s campus is spread out across 73 acres in the venerable college city of Boston. The school has its own stop on Boston’s subway system, commonly called the “T.” The city, home to myriad colleges, is steeped in American history and full of activities for students. Outside of the classroom, there are more than 400 clubs and organizations for students, including more than 30 fraternities and sororities. Northeastern provides its students with the guidance and support to study, work, research and serve on all seven continents and in any field of study.
Northeastern’s educational model is like no other. Here, the real world and the classroom are integrated through experiential learning. Its’ innovative programs encompass over 175+ majors, 120 combined majors, and a variety of concentrations, honors, pre-professional, and study-abroad programs. Northeastern’s student-faculty ratio is 14:1, and the school has 67% of classes with fewer than 20 students. Popular majors include Business, Economics, Mechanical Engineering, and Communications.
IDEA. IDEA is a student-led venture accelerator that fosters the development of entrepreneurs in the Northeastern community through the educational experience of developing a business from concept to launch. We strive to provide a holistic experience for our ventures through support, in-kind resources, and opportunities to engage in an experiential learning opportunity.
LEAD360. This is a collection of programs that provide students with the skills and knowledge to succeed as global leaders. Each program serves a unique purpose and will provide an interactive, fun-filled experience. Whether you’re interested in exploring leadership as a freshman, discussing social justice issues, or building leadership skills, studies show that students involved during college are more marketable, and tend to be higher performers in their jobs.

Students can choose a four- or five-year path with up to 18 months of real-world experience, creating a strong professional network and giving them confidence–as well as a significant edge in the job market. These professional co-op experiences allow students to bring a more informed perspective to the classroom and to learn what career is a good fit—and what careers are not—all before graduating. Northeastern partners with nearly 3,000 co-op employers around the globe, including some of the world’s largest and most reputable companies.
“I love the school! South end is a great place to go to college. You have access to all of Boston area. Academically, it’s difficult or easy depending on your major; it’s pretty simple to change majors. Professors are pretty good. Honors dorms are nice, but not the other freshmen dorms.”
