The Harker School is a private school in Silicon Valley that has earned international recognition for its top academics, quality teachers and student achievements. Founded in 1893 and educating 2,000 students, Harker is the largest independent school of its kind in California, serving families of preschool, elementary, middle and high school-aged children on its four San Jose campuses. Harker provides a strong college preparatory academic program with accelerated courses available for gifted students. Courses in the fine arts, computer science and athletics provide a balanced education. Each campus (K-5, 6-8, 9-12) includes a library, computer and science labs, and complete sports facilities. Harker also offers an extensive summer program.

Academics

The Harker School is one of the nation’s top schools for high-quality, well-rounded education to students in preschool through grade 12. Harker students receive a well-rounded education grounded in academics, enriching extracurricular activities and clubs, team-building athletics and an unwavering emphasis on character development that attracts college acceptances from top universities across the country. And, most importantly, students develop a lifelong passion for learning.

Special Highlights

Academic Spaces. The 12-acre campus includes a new library and 79 large classrooms and labs, some of which are housed in Harker’s LEED Gold certified science and technology center, Nichols Hall. Our budding student scientists have dedicated research space in Nichols Hall where they can conduct long-term research projects, much like the space found only at universities.

Business & Entrepreneurship. With unique opportunities to leverage the entrepreneurial engine of the Silicon Valley, our business and entrepreneurship program prepares our students as emerging leaders in areas such as engineering, technology, finance, marketing and hospitality and tourism.
