Colleges Bryant University
Bryant is a private university founded in 1863. Located in suburban Smithfield, Rhode Island, Bryant’s 428-acre campus is an inspired combination of contemporary architecture and the traditional beauty of the New England landscape located just 12 miles from Providence and 50 miles from Boston.
Bryant features two colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business. Bryant has a rich history of daring, groundbreaking moves. In the mid-1860s, we admitted women when it was not yet popular to do so. Soon after, we expanded our business curriculum to include humanities and liberal arts courses, to ensure well-rounded students. Our interdisciplinary foundation primes minds to arrive at creative solutions to pressing challenges. And our entrepreneurial framework encourages all Bryant students to “fail fast,” teaching resilience and flexibility no matter what their area of study.
Bryant’s innovative curriculum integrates business with liberal arts and is designed to help you create your own path. Our nationally recognized First-Year Gateway is an interdisciplinary, 13-credit curriculum designed to improve your writing proficiency, critical thinking, cultural awareness, information literacy, and ethical reasoning–skills you’ll need for success during your four years at Bryant and beyond. The Gateway includes the Bryant IDEA (Innovation Design Experience for All). Popular majors include Marketing, Finance, and Accounting.
Developing Leadership. You have opportunities to affect day-to-day student life, grow as a mentor and a leader through academic associations like Smart Women in Finance, as a member of a sorority or fraternity, through involvement in student government, serving on the Bryant Senior Advisory Council, and more. The Center for Student Leadership & Involvement provides support for more than 100 student clubs and organizations on campus. It strives to create an inclusive, community atmosphere that fosters personal and professional growth through leadership, programming, service opportunities and new student programs.
College of Business. Bryant’s College of Business is one of only 5% of all business programs in the world accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The University also is a member of CUIBE, a consortium of nationally recognized international business programs. College of Business majors’ complete courses of study that combine their major with a liberal arts minor; students gain not only a cross-disciplinary advantage, but also benefit from partnerships between Bryant and external organizations.
School Mission & Unique Qualities
We plan to reconstruct the Shu Fang Zhai building, a section of the Chinese Forbidden City, on our Rhode Island campus. In Zhuhai, China we have entered into a cooperative agreement with the Beijing Institute of Technology, to collaboratively educate students on Bryant’s U.S. campus and in Zhuhai, China. Bryant is the only American university with a presence in Zhuhai, the first university to establish a partnership with a private institution in China, and the only U.S.-China joint business program in Guangdong Province on the southeast coast.
“After my first year living on campus I found that I’ve really evolved as a person. My experience was challenging in that the workload was a huge increase from community college. Overall, Bryant has a great community. Most of the teachers are great and the campus is beautiful!”
