Case Western Reserve University is a private institution that was founded in 1826. The campus sits on 267 acres and is located about 20 minutes from downtown Cleveland, where students have free access to a handful of downtown museums like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Great Lakes Science Center. On campus, freshmen live in one of four themed residential communities, which are called Cedar, Juniper, Magnolia and Mistletoe, and with more than 200 student organizations, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved outside the classroom.

Academics

Case Western offers nearly 95 undergraduate degree choices, 135 graduate and professional options, and 140 dual-degree programs. Plus, there are more than 100 interdisciplinary academic and research centers and institutes that can provide you with just about any program of study and discovery you can imagine. Case’s student-faculty ratio is 11:1 and more than 59% of classes have fewer than 20 students. Popular majors include Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science.

School Mission & Unique Qualities

In addition to its suburban campus, the school owns University Farm, a 400-acre plot of land about 10 miles from campus where students research and take courses in biology, ecology and art. The annual SpringFest is a collection of music, carnival games and activities that is the largest student-run event on campus. Students can co-op at Fortune 500 firms, intern in highly rated medical facilities, and perform with renowned artists and musicians. Through our partnerships in Cleveland, University Circle, and beyond, there are unlimited possibilities.

Student Reviews…

“CWRU offers an experience unlike many other colleges I visited. There’s strong focus on student success and many resources, like your own personal librarian and a 50,000-square-foot maker space with 3D printers and laser cutters. The social scene is also surprisingly good.”
