St. John’s Prep is a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored school for young men in grades 6 through 12. We enroll 1,150 high school and 300 middle school students on our 175-acre campus, 15 miles northeast of Boston. Our motto is “One person can change everything.” In 1907, that was person Brother Benjamin. He believed that a school, with good at its core, could light the way. Nearly 15,000 graduates later, he’s right. In small classes, our teachers work with young men (starting in sixth grade all the way through 12th) to understand their own unique goodness. And own it. Because, like Brother Benjamin, that’s where change begins. One good turn creates another.

Academics

Our rigorous academic and extensive co-curricular program encourages students to develop their spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical, and creative potential, and inspires them to honor the diversity that enriches both our school community and the world beyond St. John’s. Academic life at St. John’s is challenging and rewarding. Our Center for Learning and Student Success (CLAS) is designed to provide appropriate academic support for students with learning differences to assist them in becoming successful, independent learners.

Special Highlights

Wellness Center. Our mission is to educate students in every dimension of their lives. At St. John’s, that means wellness. Simply put, we aim to live lives of balance centered on healthy choices. With the opening of new Wellness Center in September 2017, our priority is to expand opportunities for students. Based on the experiences of a full year, we will be better able to develop programs for other members of the school community.

Fine Arts at The Prep. The arts play a leading role in campus life at St. John’s. Whether you are an aspiring musician, actor, director or artist, you’ll discover exciting ways to explore your creativity here, with expansive fine arts classes in the High School and Middle School and after-school programs. And if you love seeing great plays, concerts and art exhibits, you’ll find plenty to enjoy as well!

Top colleges attended by students

Ninety-nine percent of St. John’s graduates go on to four-year colleges and universities every year. We are proud to note that ninety-one percent of our recent graduates complete their undergraduate studies in four years, compared to the national average of fifty percent. These are the colleges and universities our graduates have attended in the last five years.

What the school looks for in students…

“We challenge our young men to grow in faith and wisdom, to promote human dignity, to act with compassion and integrity, to pursue justice and peace, and to live lives of service to society.”
