Founded in 1903, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School is a college preparatory day and boarding school located in the southeastern United States serving students in grades 5-12. Rabun Gap is fully accredited through SACS, SAIS, and NAIS. Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School combines its strong academic program, mountain setting, and Presbyterian heritage to inspire young people eager to learn and grow. Living our motto of Work Study Worship, our community nurtures and challenges students of diverse backgrounds as they prepare for college and a lifetime of service.

The 1,400-acre campus is located two hours from Atlanta in the beautiful mountains of northeast Georgia. The academic curriculum is designed to challenge students of average to gifted academic abilities and includes AP and honors sections in many areas of the curriculum.

 Academics

As a college preparatory school, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School offers an educational program designed to provide the student with a solid foundation in the liberal arts. We offer a program that will both challenge and nurture each student. We encourage natural curiosity, and by example we demonstrate that discovery and learning are lifelong pursuits.

 Special Highlights

Cultural Competency. Students also develop greater cultural awareness and competency through participation in programs such as international day, Model United Nations, Reflection Week, community service, trips abroad, and weekend trips and activities. Several Rabun Gap faculty and staff are from other countries and the school seeks to bring speakers to campus to enhance and enrich the learning experience for the community.

Cirque. The Rabun Gap Cirque program is a cornerstone of the arts department. Founded in 2001, Rabun Gap has served as one of the earliest and longest-running high school cirque programs in the country. Utilizing trainers from Asheville, Atlanta, Athens, and the surrounding area, Rabun Gap teaches students cirque skills including Spanish web, aerial silks, trapeze, German wheel, aerial lyra, tumbling, and acrobatics.

What the school looks for in students…

“We look for students who are linguistic risk-takers, who have had study abroad experience, who are interested in things outside of academics, who are good citizens and who understand the meaning of honor.”
