Founded in 1746, Linden Hall is the nation’s oldest independent boarding and day school for girls. More importantly, Linden Hall holds the honor of being the top-ranked college preparatory all-girl school in the United States. It’s here that you will find a supportive environment where curricula, culture, character and conditioning unite and students become leaders—in the classroom and in life.

Linden Hall is a close community of young women from all corners of the United States and many countries around the world. Together, they experience the best all-girls living and learning experience that is available. It is truly a place where girls see girls in the lead.

 Academics

Linden Hall is dedicated to providing multiple levels of curricular sophistication to ensure that each student is challenged by a course of study that is individualized just for her. Last year, Linden Hall developed two new AP courses, just for two students. Middle School and Upper School students are taught by the finest department faculty—guiding and preparing students for life at a four-year college and beyond.

 Special Highlights

Travel. Travel is an important part of the Linden Hall experience, especially for boarding and international students. Every weekend there are opportunities to travel to nearby communities to take in local culture. There are also many opportunities to travel to the larger metropolitan areas that are easily accessible from campus: Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore and Washington D.C. are just a few examples of the places girls visit to immerse themselves in a different culture. Linden Hall also offers three trips each year over Christmas and Spring Break.

Equestrian Program. As a part of the diverse athletic program offered at Linden Hall, the Riding Program is dedicated to providing safe, quality instruction for both horse and rider that establishes a strong foundation in riding and horsemanship. The Riding Program meets the needs of riders of all levels, from the beginner or recreational rider to the advanced competitor. Over 30% of our students participate each year in the program and ride a minimum of two days a week and up to as many as six days a week.
