Indian Springs School has a 350-acre campus in a valley surrounded by the most southwestern hills of the Appalachian Mountains.

The mission of Indian Springs School is to develop in students a love of learning, a sense of integrity and moral courage, and an ethic of participatory citizenship. Inspired by the motto Learning Through Living, the school is a community of talented boarding and day students and dedicated faculty committed to the belief that in learning to balance individual achievement with the values and principles of democracy, the student can develop to his or her full stature. Students are encouraged to keep open minds and become determined to change things in society for the better.

 Academics

As the recipient of the Siemens Award, Indian Springs is recognized as the top Math and Science AP Program in the state of Alabama. From photography and painting to sculpture and woodworking, Springs’ visual arts courses are designed to cultivate students’ creativity. Springs’ faculty members aren’t just passionate about what they do. They’re also incredibly good at it, with 78 percent holding either a doctorate or master’s degree. For students looking to get a head start on their college career or deepen their understanding of a subject matter, Springs’ 17 Advanced Placement courses offer plenty of ways to do just that.

 Special Highlights

Future Business Leaders of America. The club works to develop leadership, communication and team skills among its members, especially those planning to enter the business world after college. Members will do exercises working on skills, will discuss projects to help the community, and hopefully invite speakers from the local business community to speak to the club.

Student Government. Indian Springs is very unique in that we run the school as a small town with a student government that reflects our belief that student involvement is critical to the running of the school. In accordance with the school’s Constitution, students have real authority to effect change through the Student Government. The student government is headed by the Mayor, who along with six Commissions and the Judiciary, meet weekly to tackle issues, embracing our motto of “Learning Through Living.”
