Academics

Annie Wright Upper Schools prepare students extraordinarily well for college, offering small classes, motivated and independent-minded peers, an exceptional faculty, and an evolving curriculum to meet the particular requirements of this century. More importantly, we prepare them for a lifetime of learning, instilling in our students genuine curiosity and the courage to ask questions, seek creative answers and meet the challenges of a rapidly-changing, complex and culturally-diverse world.

Special Highlights

Class Trips. Signature class trips include the 3-day “Rivers and Ridges” trip for Grade 9 students. Taking place in Central Washington, adventures like camping, hiking, and water rafting offer exciting and memorable ways to begin bonding as a class. The Grade 10 Retreat takes place in a lovely setting in Key Peninsula, WA, and deepens class connectivity by making introspection and acceptance central practices.

(s)Elective & (a)Elective Trips. Members of the (s)Elective program travel far and wide, from Alaska to Los Angeles, from San Francisco to New York, not to mention Boston, Washington DC, Arizona, Cuba, Japan, Mexico and Vietnam! Annie Wright subsidizes a majority of cost for these adventures, based on the student’s demonstrated interest in the (s)Elective field and sustained commitment to the program. Members of the (a)Elective program extend their skills into performance-based festivals and conferences across the region, including travel to Vancouver BC and even San Francisco for National Heritage Festivals for Choir and Orchestra.

International Exchange Program. Study abroad in a 4-6 week reciprocal exchange with another high-school aged student. Partners include schools in Argentina, China, France, New Zealand and Spain.
